From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Regierungsbezirk is an administrative subdivition of Germany, a subdivision of certain federal states (Bundesländer). Regierungsbezirke are themselves further divided into districts (Kreise or Landkreise) or independent cities, which have county status themselves (kreisfreie Städte or Stadtkreise). The Regierungsbezirk is governed by a Bezirksregierung and led by a Regierungspräsident.
