Definition[edit]

If a category C is a direct member of Non-transitive categories, that means that articles (except for C's main article, if any) and categories in C and its subcategories should not be considered as members of C's parent categories. In other words, the common transitivity reasoning step "if something is a member of category, it is also a member of all of that category's parent categories", does not hold in the case of these categories.
