OpenOffice.org is a completely free and open source Office suite available for download to Windows, Linux, and Macintosh users. It has achieved very high degree of document compatibility with Microsoft Office, with the exception of lack of support for MS Publisher (*.pub) files and lack of a e-mail client à la MS Outlook. Also, OpenOffice.org can export PDF format natively so users can decide to create PDF in addition to MS Office / OpenOffice.org formats for document exchange.
Starting from version 2.0, OpenOffice.org has officially adopted OpenDocument as its default file format.
