Golf championships organised or co-organised by The R&A, an offshoot of The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews. The individual events always take place in Scotland, England, Wales or Northern Ireland, but some of the team events take place alternately in Great Britain & Ireland, and in either Continental Europe or the United States.

Prior to 2017, The R&A did not directly organise women's events. Previously, these events were organised by the Ladies' Golf Union, a separate body affiliated with The R&A that governed women's golf in Great Britain and Ireland. In late 2016, the LGU merged with The R&A, bringing men's and women's golf in Great Britain and Ireland under a single governing body. This parallels the situation in the United States, where the USGA has long conducted amateur and professional championships for both men and women.
