The term can be used to refer to the buildings themselves and also to the mainstream professional productions staged in them. This area of London is commonly known as Theatreland and the buildings referred to as West End theatres, are typically centred around the Covent Garden and Soho areas; bordered by The Strand to the South, Oxford Street to the North, Regent Street to the West, and Kingsway to the East. Key locations for West End theatres include Shaftesbury Avenue, Drury Lane, St. Martin's Lane and The Strand.
