[edit] Massacre categories

Bombing civilians is considered a massacre to some, but to avoid endless edit wars, it has been decided to not categorize aerial bombing under massacre categories. Please see the introduction to Category:Massacres, and its talk page: Category talk:Massacres. See also the WP:CFD discussions linked from there.

Personally I think much aerial bombing can be considered both as massacres, and as strategic bombings. Strategic bombing deliberately targets civilians as part of a total war concept to destroy the war machine, its factories, its workers, etc..

There are "see also" links on the Category:Massacres page:

So people who go to that category can decide for themselves. --Timeshifter (talk) 12:18, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
