Too US-centric?[edit]

This category purports to be about intercollegiate athletics. However, I think it might be too US-centric:

  • intercollegiate athletics can and do occur outside American colleges (eg. the annual cross-border college hockey game)
  • the category description only talks about the US, but includes Canadian Interuniversity Sport as one of its articles.

Perhaps a fix is in order, but how to fix it...? kelvSYC 07:02, 28 Jan 2005 (UTC)

I made it a sub-category of category:Student sport a few days ago, although there isn't much else to put in that. I would just suggest that this category is changed to "Intercollegiate sport in the United States", or if that sounds ungainly to Americans, a comment should be put at the top of the category page. I have never heard the term "intercollegiate" used in any non-US context. It is totally unused in the UK (for one thing athletics means track and field only here), but I don't know about Canada. I have taken the Canadian sub-cat out. Let's see if anyone reverses that.Philip 06:18, 13 Feb 2005 (UTC)
