Please explain how this category works? --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 22:29, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

What is the point of this category? Edits such as this make no difference at all because the category name is automatically generated from the identical page name. I hope this isn't another case of fixing something that isn't broken. SFB 11:33, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
  • I concur with SFB. It only creates more pointless work, we're better off spending our efforts adding real content. Delete this category. -- P 1 9 9 • TALK 18:36, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

Rationale for this category is here: Template_talk:Commons_category#Cat_for_empty_parameter_1. Illia Connell (talk) 20:03, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

Can anyone provide one example where this has occurred? SFB 03:33, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
It it the sort of thing that will be a slow dribble over the years.
I can understand that rationale. It would be the sort of thing that is not checked on a page move and only picked up by diligent editors at some later date. -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 01:01, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

We should get a bot to set all the parameter to the pagename to clean out the current set of pages. -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 01:01, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

A bot that checks whether the target actually exists at the Commons would be a much better solution. Tracking can't prevent invalid use because Commons categories can be renamed too. GregorB (talk) 08:23, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
