Caulfield is a railway station in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, located in the suburb of Caulfield East, at the junction of the Frankston, Pakenham and Cranbourne railway lines. Classed as a Premium Station, it is in Metcard Zone 1.

[edit] Facilities
Caulfield is located between Sir John Monash Drive and Normanby Road, with station access from both.
The station consists of four platforms, with two in an island format. Platforms 2 and 3 (island platform in the centre) house the main station building, constructed of red brick building and containing an enclosed waiting area, ticket facilities and toilets. Smaller red brick buildings are located on platforms 1 and 4. The station itself is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register.
Large Metcard ticket vending machines are located at the entrance to the island platform and platform 1, with small coin-only Metcard ticket vending machines located at the entrance to platform 4 and in the station's underpass. The underpass is situated at the Up end of the station, which link's all platforms, and contains a small take away food shop.
The station is located adjacent to the Caulfield campus of Monash University, as well as Caulfield Racecourse.

[edit] History
Caulfield station opened on 7 May 1879.[1] It was upgraded to a Premium Station on 13 June 1996, although the enclosed waiting area and ticket facilities were built in 1993 as part of the 'Travel Safe' program in the early 1990s.[2]
