Cederberg Municipality is a local municipality located within the West Coast District Municipality in the Western Cape province of South Africa. As of 2007, it had a population of 31,942.[5] Its municipality code is WC012.

The mayor of the municipality is Judy Mouton of the Democratic Alliance. It is divided into six wards with a total of twelve councillors.

The municipality has a total area of 7,338 square kilometres (2,833 sq mi).[6]

As of the census of 2001, there are 39,326 people and 10,367 households residing in the municipality. The population density is 5.35/km². The density of households is 1.41/km². The racial makeup of the municipality is Black African 7.96%, Coloured 78.23%, Indian/Asian 0.00%, White 13.74%.

17.7% of all households are made up of individuals. The average household size is 3.79.

In the municipality the population is spread out with 29.1% under the age of 15, 16.7% from 15 to 24, 32.9% from 25 to 44, 15.5% from 45 to 64, and 5.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 27 years. For every 100 females there are 99.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 98.0 males.

In the municipality 92.6% of residents speak Afrikaans at home, 1.0% speak English, 0.0% speak Ndebele, 4.9% speak Xhosa, 0.0% speak Zulu, 0.0% speak Northern Sotho, 0.7% speak Sotho, 0.7% speak Tswana, 0.0% speak Swati, 0.0% speak Venda, and 0.0% speak Tsonga. 0.0% of the population speaks a non-official language at home.

94.0% of residents are Christian, 4.6% have no religion, 0.0% are Muslim, 0.0% are Jewish, and 0.0% are Hindu. 1.4% have other or undetermined beliefs.

12.0% of residents aged 20 and over have received no schooling, 24.7% have had some primary school, 12.2% have completed only primary school, 30.9% have had some high school education, 14.6% have finished only high school, and 5.6% have an education higher than the high school level. Overall, 20.2% of residents have completed high school.

40.3% of housing units have a telephone and/or cell-phone in the dwelling, 51.4% have access to a phone nearby, and 8.3% have access that is not nearby or no access. 82.0% of households have a flush or chemical toilet. 51.4% have refuse removed by the municipality at least once a week and 0.8% have no rubbish disposal. 69.1% have running water inside their dwelling, 92.6% have running water on their property, and 98.4% have access to running water. 71.9% of households use electricity for cooking, 59.9% for heating, and 83.9% for lighting. 72.0% of households have a radio, 53.2% have a television, 7.3% own a computer, 59.7% have a refrigerator, and 21.9% have a cell-phone.

6.8% of the population aged 15–65 is unemployed. Of the unemployed persons, 14.4% are Black African, 83.7% are Coloured, 0.0% are Indian/Asian, and 1.9% are White. 10.4% of Black Africans are unemployed, 7.4% of Coloureds, 0.0% of Indians/Asians, and 1.0% of Whites.

The median annual income of working adults aged 15–65 is R 8 463 ($1,264). Males have a median annual income of R 8 912 ($1,331) versus R 7 843 ($1,171) for females.
