Celeb
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Celeb is a long-running cartoon by Charles Peattie[1] that has run in the satirical magazine Private Eye since 1987. It gently satirises the life of an ageing rock star Gary Bloke.
Other regular characters include
- His glamorous (and much younger) 3rd wife Debs
- His urbane butler Johnson
- His somewhat spoiled children Troy and Pixie
(inspired by the outlandish names of Bob Geldof's first two daughters;
he in turn continued the joke by naming his 3rd daughter after this fictional character)
In 2002 there was a BBC sitcom[2] based on the same characters which received ambivalent reviews.[3]
