Peter Gregson is a cellist, composer and pioneer of contemporary music. He is in demand for unique concert presentations and his embracing of new performance tools and spaces.

He is an endorsed Apogee Electronics Artist.

Peter Gregson is a cellist, composer and pioneer of contemporary music. He has performed widely in the UK and the US, at venues ranging from The Royal Albert Hall, London to The Ingleby Gallery in Edinburgh; from the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles to Trinity Church, Boston.

He was recently commissioned by Bowers & Wilkins and Peter Gabriel to record an album of original music for acoustic and electric cellos for their Society of Sound label. His work has been recognised with the 2008 Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland Award for music and with membership to the Courvoisier Future 500. Peter is also the 2010/11 Creative in Residence at The Hospital Club, London, where he curates his year long series, alt_classical.

Selected performances for 2010 include performances at the MIT Media Lab, The Roundhouse, The Future Gallery, The 92nd St Y, The Lab Gallery, The Queen's Hall and Kings Place. Peter also plays in the house band for TEDxAlcatraz in San Francisco.

He has worked with and premiered the music of many of the leading composers composers writing today, including John Metcalfe, Max Richter, Milton Mermikides, Tod Machover, Joby Talbot, Martin Suckling, Monica Max West, Artem Vassiliev, Patrick Nunn, Howard Goodall, Richard Sisson, Philip Sheppard, Yann Seznec, Sally Beamish, Thomas Hewitt Jones and Jenny Olivia Johnston. He has also worked extensively with the MIT Media Lab on their Hyperbow project.

Peter Gregson plays a Colin Irving acoustic cello, a custom five string Eric Jensen electric cello and is an Apogee Electronics Artist. His original music is published by Mute Song.

He was the cellist on Howard Goodall's Gramophone award winning albums, Enchanted Voices and Enchanted Carols.

On April 2, 2010, 'Terminal', commissioned by Bowers & Wilkins and Peter Gabriel's Real World Records, was released through the Society of Sound label. It features a new recording of Steve Reich's 'Cello Counterpoint' and six original tracks by Gregson.
