The Central People's Government is the central government of the People's Republic of China in Beijing. According to the 1982 Constitution, "Central People's Government" is synonymous with the State Council.[1][2]

In the first five years of the People's Republic (1949 to 1954), "Central People's Government" (中央人民政府) was the body with supreme power in the state. It was then composed of
- Government Administration Council of the Central People's Government (中央人民政府政務院)
- People's Revolutionary Military Committee of the Central People's Government (中央人民政府人民革命軍事委員會)
- Supreme People's Court of the Central People's Government (中央人民政府最高人民法院)
- Supreme People's Procuratorate of the Central People's Government (中央人民政府最高人民檢察署)
- State Planning Commission of the Central People's Government (中央人民政府國家計畫委員會) (1952 - 1954)
The term "Central People's Government" is used frequently to denote China's sovereign government in places like Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Region which has liaison offices. The State Council is used commonly to refer to the day to day current administration of the country.
