Centre de Flacq
Centre de Flacq (French for the "centre of Flacq") is a town and the capital of the district of Flacq in east-central Mauritius. It is located at an altitude of 154 feet (46 meters).[1] Flacq is connected to the road that links with the capital city of Port Louis and provides access to the coastal road. The first coeducational secondary school (Central College now Darwin)in Centre de Flacq was opened by a Ceylonese (Sri Lankan Tamils) who came to settle in the island in the mid-1940s (V C Chellappoo) after a career in the British army. Flacq has one of the oldest open markets which is situated behind one of the oldest courthouses.
