Deh Siva Var Mohe
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Deh Siva bar Mohe[1] is a celebrated and widely quoted hymn believed to be written by Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru.
The hymn is a part of Chandi Charitar Ukti Bilas, a section of the Dasam Granth. In Gurbani (sacred hymns of Sikh Gurus) the word "Siva" primarily means Waheguru and represents God as, the undescribed, unseen and immortal God in a Nirguna sense.
There are other symbolic references to Hindu deities in Gurbani[2] for the reader to get a better understanding. Bhai Kahn Singh Nabha in Mahan Kosh defines ‘Siva’ as ‘ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ’ (Parbrahm di Shakti) (the power of Parbrahm) in this context.[3]

Translation: O Lord grant me the boon, that I may never deviate from doing a good deed.
That I shall not fear when I go into combat. And with determination I will be victorious.
That I may teach myself this greed alone, to learn only Thy praises.
And when the last days of my life come, I may die in the might of the battlefield.
-- Guru Gobind Singh
