Chartered organizations of the Boy Scouts of America

All Boy Scouts of America units are owned and operated by chartered organizations. Of the 108,971 and 3,698,619 Scouts in 2010:

  • 68.4% of all units and 62.5% of all Scouts are chartered to faith-based organizations
  • 26.5% of all units and 25.1% of all Scouts are chartered to civic organizations
  • 8.2% of all units and 12.4% of all Scouts are chartered to educational organizations

Each unit is chartered by a local branch of an organization, not at the national level. The Following Tables combine all chartering organizations that fall into a religious denomination or national organization.

The following table lists chartered organizations by faith-based groups (top 25), then civic groups, then educational groups:
