The Chester Township Public School District is a fully accredited elementary district responsible for the education of students in kindergarten through eighth grades. The school district serves two municipalities in Morris County, New Jersey: Chester Borough and Chester Township.

As of the 2008-09 school year, the district's three schools had an enrollment of 1,441 students and 110.5 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 13.0.[1]

Students in public school for grades nine through twelve in both communities attend West Morris Mendham High School, part of the West Morris Regional High School District, which serves students from the surrounding Morris County school districts of Chester Borough, Chester Township, Mendham Borough, Mendham Township and from Washington Township.[3]
