Chickahominy Middle School is a 6th grade through 8th grade school in Mechanicsville, Virginia. Their mascot is a lightning bolt and they are known as the Chickahominy Chargers. Chickahominy pulls students from many elementary schools including Cool Spring, Pearson's Corner, Washington Henry, Kersey Creek, and Mechanicsville Elementary. The students from Chickahominy go to the neighboring high school, Atlee High. Some students also have the chance to go to Maggie L. Walker Governors School pearce rigorous testing. Their school motto is 'the best place to learn and achieve'. The average student enrollment is around 1,650. Students from each grade are separated into teams. Each team includes four core teachers and 180 students. Different team names are chosen for each grade. The names are themed, some previous themes are candy, sports teams, games, and cinema references. First bell rings at 8:30am and classes are separated into 1 hour and 30 minute blocks including a 35 minute homeroom and a 30 minute lunch period. Classes end at 3:30pm. A typical students schedule is as follows: 8:30am–9:55am: 1st Block, 9:55am–10:35am: Homeroom, 10:40am–12:35pm: 2nd Block (Lunch is included in this block.), 12:40pm–2:00pm: 3rd Block, 2:04pm–3:30pm: 4th Block. Chickahominy Middle School also participates in a bullying prevention program called Olweus Bullying Prevention.
