The Children's Illustrated Encyclopedia is an encyclopedia intended for children with a significant amount of illustrations. The book's motto is "From Aboriginal Australians to Zoos".

Published by Dorling Kindersley, it won Blue Peter Children's Book Award in 2001.[1]

At least every entry includes:

  • A running index
  • Some sub-entries
  • A 'find out more' box
  • Some captions or explanations
  • A map

At the end, there is 22-page illustrated Factfinder and an index.
