[edit] History
Chinde, located approximately 40 miles south of Quelimane was an important trading centre under British Central Africa in the 1890s. It served as a point for trade between Zambesia and Nyassaland. In 1889 its location on the Chinde River in the Zambezi delta saw potential for growth, and in 1891 Chinde replaced Conceicao as a point of trading.[2]
