The Cholan Express (16854/16853) (Officially Tiruchirappalli-Chennai Egmore Express) is an express train operated by the Southern Railway zone of the Indian Railways. This train connects Chennai Egmore and Tiruchirappalli in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The train runs daily and have RSA with Mangalore Express. The Trains via Tanjore,Kumbakonam,Mayiladuthurai,Cuddalore and Villupuram.
Train is named after the Chola Kingdom who ruled over the parts through which the train passes.The Train is named after the Chola kingdom Who Rules The Trichy and Tanjore.As they head quartered at Woraiyur.

The train used to have a milk van at the rear end and it was famous among rail fans of Tamil Nadu since it was the only train to do so in the state.
