The Cleveland Metroparks is a system of nature preserves in Greater Cleveland. The preserves, which encircle the city of Cleveland, Ohio, generally follow the rivers that flow through the region to Lake Erie. Referred to affectionately as the "Emerald Necklace",[1] the network of 16 reservations across 22,000 acres (89 km²) includes hundreds of miles of walking, bicycle, and horse trails, parks, picnic areas, five nature education centers, seven golf courses, and abundant fishing holes. In addition, the park district manages the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo in Cleveland. Several of the reservations are adjacent to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
While the majority of the reservations are in suburban Cuyahoga County, Brookside Reservation and portions of two others are in the city of Cleveland. Three of the reservations lie outside Cuyahoga County. A portion of North Chagrin Reservation is in Lake County, a small portion of Bradley Woods Reservation is in Lorain County, and Hinckley Reservation is in Hinckley Township in Medina County.

- Hinckley
- Huntington
- Mill Stream Run
- North Chagrin
- Ohio & Erie Canal

The Cleveland Metroparks are called the "Emerald Necklace" because they form a nearly complete ring around the Cleveland communities. Beginning in the west on Lake Erie, they are:
- Rocky River
- Mill Stream Run
- Brecksville
- Bedford
- South Chagrin
A disconnected completion of the ring is North Chagrin to the north of South Chagrin.
Forming a pendant south of the ring is the Hinkley Reservation. From Mill Stream Run Reservation on the southwest side, Big Creek, Brookside, and Cleveland Metroparks Zoo created a green pathway toward downtown. The other reservations form green patches surrounding the "necklace".[2]
