Cody James Buckel (born June 18, 1992) is a pitcher in the Texas Rangers organization. He currently plays for the High-A Myrtle Beach Pelicans.

Professional career[edit]

Buckel was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the second round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft out of Royal High School in Simi Valley, California.[1]

Buckel began his career with the Arizona League Rangers in 2010. He pitched four innings allowing no runs with nine strikeouts. In 2011, he played for the Hickory Crawdads going 8-3 with a 2.61 earned run average with 120 strikeouts in 96 innings. Prior to the 2012 season, Baseball America ranked him as the Rangers seventh best prospect.[2] Buckel started 2012 with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Through his first 54 innings he has a 1.33 ERA and 64 strikeouts.


He was featured in the Dick's Sporting Goods "Every Pitch" commercial.[3]
