Cold War Spies is a Boston area gothic rock band that formed in 2005 in Somersworth, New Hampshire. Aaron Russo and Rick Chambers had been playing music together for years and were previously in the band Frostline together. They recruited Matt Menzi to play keyboards as he had done in a previous version of Frostline. Next, Gabe Price was introduced to the band on bass guitar as he had previously been in the band Opposing Mona with Matt Menzi. Soon after the foursome started working on songs, Matt Menzi decided to exit the band and currently records as a member of alternative rock duo The Shingles.

The Spies participated in the RPM Challenge 2006 (a first of its kind challenge to create and record an album in 28 days), producing an 11 track album of sincere and vigorous gothic rock demos. After receiving press and college radio play related to the RPM event, the Cold War Spies decided to head into the studio to professionally record a full length album. They are currently working on the effort with a distributed release date of early Fall 2006.
