Collendina is a small section of Ocean Grove which is located in Victoria, Australia.[1]

When the town of Ocean Grove was established it was a Methodist town, and it was the ruling of the Methodists that it would remain a dry town. Because Ocean Grove was free of alcohol outlets, the town of Collendina grew up around the Collendina pub and caravan park just outside the Ocean Grove boundary. Eventually the two towns merged to form one urban area. The prohibition was officially lifted in Ocean Grove in 2006, although many cafes and restaurants were already beginning to serve alcoholic drinks.
[edit] Collendina Estate
Collendina was originally started as a housing estate extending outside the Ocean Grove boundary. The large estate was made up of the following main roads; Shell Road (then known as Ocean Grove - Point Lonsdale Highway) made up the northern boundary. Ocean Throughway made up the southern boundary Endeavour Drive made up the western boundary (the smaller roads off Endeavour Drive, Somerdale Avenue and Cotham Hill Road did not exist) and; Bonnyvale Road (then known as Bonnyvale Lane) was the main road going straight through the estate. The eastern boundary was made up by the Collendina Pub and the Airstrip (which is dismantled and no longer usable). The Collendina Caravan Park entrance (or driveway) runs off Bonnyvale Road alongside the hotel and is primarily made up of some 400 permanent "on-site" caravans. It includes two tennis courts, a swimming pool, as well as a three, and nine-hold Golfcourse with sand-greens. During the summer-holiday period it also has a fully operational kiosk. Half way through the building and creation of the estate the founder went bankrupt so the government claimed the land and turned it into a suburb off Ocean Grove which is now one of the built-up urban areas of Ocean Grove. The areas of Ocean Grove consist of Collendina, Surfside, Woodlands, Belle Vue and Kingston Estate.
