Colnodo is the Colombian Association of Non Governmental Organizations for Communication through E-mail – www.colnodo.apc.org. Is a non profit organization legally established in Colombia since 1994. During all these years Colnodo has been working to achieve its main objective; the facilitation of communications and the exchange of information, experience and expertise between Colombian organizations at all levels - through electronic networks at low cost - regarding issues such as human rights, environment, housing, the betterment of women’s lives and others. Colnodo has promoted and democratized the use of ICTs among social organizations and groups (women, the youth, indigenous groups, local communities, etc.) and has been a facilitator of governmental projects regarding the promotion of ICTs. One of its principles is to develop its services based on free open source software.
Colnodo has been deeply involved in the Free Software Law initiative led by the Colombian Free Software movement.
Colnodo is a member of The Association for Progressive Communications (APC). APC is an international network of civil society organizations whose mission is to empower and support groups and individuals working for peace, human rights, development and protection of the environment, through the strategic use of information and communication technologies (ICTs), including the Internet.
