The Cologne Business School (CBS) is a privately run, state-recognized business school located in Cologne, Germany. The Cologne Business School is an internationally renowned business school of the European University of Applied Sciences Rhine/Erft and ranks among the top ten German universities for business studies (University career ranking 07/08). Founded in 1993, the CBS is one of the pioneers who introduced the Bachelor degree to Germany. The Bachelor Study Programme at CBS carries the seal of approval from the tri-national accreditation FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation) with excellent appraisal in the areas of practical economics and practical relevance.
Studying International Business at CBS you can choose between main focus studies such as European Management, Asia Pacific Management, Tourism Event and Hospitality Management, Media Management, Import and Export Management and Management Consulting. Students and lecturers from all over the world form the picture of the ‘international campus’ at the CBS. But that’s not all. Whether Shanghai, Sydney, San Diego, Barcelona or Budapest – CBS cooperates worldwide with renowned partner universities and is continuously developing its international networks.
The language at the Cologne University campus is English. Further training in other languages is an integral part of studies as far as modules, practical work or semesters abroad are concerned. Intensive character training completes your qualification profile and thereby provides you with the tools for a splendid appearance. The European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) guarantees the easy recognition of study certificates at foreign universities easily. And as an option you can also take a foreign university degree (Additional Degree) In its Bachelor-, Master- and MBA-Programs, CBS educates multinational students in a practice-related and cross-cultural manner. [2] [3]
Rankings[edit]
The university tests implemented by independent organisations are also an important indicator of the quality of a university and they are then summarised in rankings, providing a precise overview of the strengths and weaknesses of the universities and their position in a direct regional comparison. In the Centre for Higher Education Development‘s (CHE ‘s) ranking, the CBS also achieved top marks, including the best results amongst the Cologne universities. Cologne Business School achieved top marks in the CHE’s (Centre for Universities’ Development) ranking, the most comprehensive ranking in the German educational system. It was placed in the top group in 11 of the 13 categories assessed, and achieved top marks in the areas of “International approach”, “Practical relevance”, “Feasibility of studying” as well as the “Overall study situation”, positioning it among Germany’s top universities for economics subjects. The Cologne Business School was the only university in the Cologne region to achieve a result with an average better than 2.0.[4] - It was ranked in the top 10 of German universities for business studies (University career ranking 11/12).
Accreditiation by the AMBA and ACBSP[edit]
The Executive MBA, offered in cooperation with the Maastricht School of Management, has accreditation from the Association of MBA (AMBA) and the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programmes (ACBSP).[4]
Accreditiation by the FIBAA[edit]
In connection with the internationalisation of German higher education and the introduction of the Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts structure, it was agreed that accreditations will be introduced in addition to state supervision. The FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation), which has accredited all six of the Cologne Business School's degree courses, is one of the few agencies which have been granted permission to award the quality standard.
ITB Berlin[edit]
Cologne Business School and ITB Berlin awarded the best exhibitors of this year’s ITB Christin Ernst M.A. Pressestelle Cologne Business School
The award ceremony of the Best Exhibitor Awards (BEA) which is organized by students of the Cologne Business School (CBS) during the ITB in Berlin was once again one of the fair highlights. Four days long, the future Tourism Managers of the CBS evaluated the approximately 12,000 exhibitors at the CBS according to numerous criteria like information content, interactivity, interesting effects and service quality.[5] [6]
ERASMUS[edit]
The international orientation of the CBS is, in part, contact to the foreign universities. As well as the academic exchange, such cooperation also provides a sound network through which our students spend a semester abroad. At the same time, CBS welcomes international students from all over the world to study with us for one semester, one year or for a full degree. In 2010, the CBS was awarded the ERASMUS University Charta (EUC) through the European Commission. The EUC allows the CBS to carry out different mobility activities within the frame of the ERASMUS programme.[7]

MSM & CBS Executive MBA[edit]
The accredited programme, among others from the Association of MBA (AMBA) imparts established knowledge in all the most important areas of business management disciplines, modern management methods and excellent language skills training.
CBS, in cooperation with The Maastricht School of Management (MSM) has developed an Executive MBA programme - specially for managers with executive experience - with study phases in Germany, Holland and China. The MSM is one of the world’s largest management schools and can fall back on almost 25 years experience with MBA and Executive MBA programmes. [9] [10]
Research[edit]
All universities have the task of both imparting academic learning and always gaining academic knowledge, called research. In addition to their lecture work, the Cologne Business School professors work on current projects, publishing their results in specialist publications and books.
A group of student employees supports them in this work, at the same time gaining additional knowledge in the field of academic work.
However, also the remaining students are involved in research, help with investigations, carry out surveys and provide important partial results.

Corporate contacts[edit]
Since it was founded, the Cologne Business School works closely with companies and organisations in a wide variety of economic areas. On the one hand, companies provide important industrial placements for our students and topics for Bachelor of Arts these and on the other hand they find junior employees or student workers. Also when processing projects and case studies, both parties profit equally: the students gain an insight in the corporate activities and the companies can again utilise the students' fresh knowledge and view on specific topics.
The student initiative University2Business (U2B) also provides new contacts to companies time and time again. The network and recruiting event at the CBS campus is held with a specific motto each year. The event offers students, lecturers and company representatives the opportunity to interact in workshops, presentations and panel discussions and to establish contacts.
Moreover, we are very happy that our partners support events from and for students - for example as sponsors. Examples of this include our yearly participation in the ITB in Berlin as well as semester opening and conclusion festivities.
Corporations include well-known companies like Mazda, Volkswagen, Viacom, Toyota, Red Bull and a large number of others.
