Colostethus brunneus is a species of frog in the Dendrobatidae family. It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, Venezuela, and possibly Colombia. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical swamps, freshwater lakes, and freshwater marshes. It is threatened by habitat loss.
