Cool World is a 2D action platformer video game for the Nintendo Game Boy that was released in 1993 for the North American and European markets. The MS-DOS, Commodore 64, Amiga, and Atari ST versions of the game would have an identical style of gameplay to this version.

[edit] Summary

While in Cool World, Detective Frank Harris has to prevent "Doodles" from reaching the transporter gates to the "Real World."

The player has to prevents the Doodles (evil cartoons) from reaching the Interworld Matrix that separates Cool World from the "real world."[3] Unlike the Super NES version, players must control Frank Harris. He is the chief of the Cool World Police Department and the arch-rival to an unmentioned and unseen Jack Deebs.[3] By collecting coins and shooting Doodles, the player achieves his goal.[3] There are four worlds; each containing four individual levels (depicted in the game as successive waves of Doodles).[3] Nails the Spider makes a cameo to inform the player that "he blew it" when he allows too many Doodles to exist in the "real world."

This video game is based on graphics found in underground cartoons and comic books; identical in concept to the movie of the same title;[3] which had Jack Deebs as the main protagonist and Frank Harris as a minor antagonist. NintendoAge has verified that box, cartridge, and instruction manual are of average scarcity.[4]

According to the back of the European box; the game is not appropriate for children under the age of 3. One of the noticeable differences between the North American box art and the European box art is the inclusion of the Paramount Pictures logo in the European box art.
