"Cruella de Vil", written by Mel Leven, is a song featured in the 1961 Disney-produced animated film 101 Dalmatians and performed by Bill Lee as the singing voice of Roger Radcliffe, a character from the movie. It has been re-recorded by Lalaine, Skye Sweetnam, Hayden Panettiere, and Selena Gomez for various releases in the Disneymania album series.
Use in 101 Dalmatians
In the context of the film, it was performed by Roger Radcliffe (singing voice provided by Bill Lee), to describe his wife Anita's schoolmate of the same name. It became Roger's first successful song.
Subsequent to the 1961 version's premiere, a studio version of the song was released as a 45 RPM single.
The song has been re-recorded by Lalaine for Disneymania 3 (2005), by Skye Sweetnam as a bonus track for Disneymania 4 (2006), by Hayden Panettiere for Disneymania 5 (2007), and by Selena Gomez for Disneymania 6 (2008).
The song was covered in 1988 by The Replacements on producer Hal Willner's Disney tribute album, Stay Awake: Various Interpretations of Music from Vintage Disney Films, and by Los Lobos on their Los Lobos Goes Disney tribute album.

The song was re-recorded in 2008 by Selena Gomez. It uses an interpolation of Janet Jackson's "Black Cat" in its production and melody. A music video was filmed to promote the 2-disc Platinum Edition DVD of One Hundred and One Dalmatians on March 4, 2008. The song was later available in the Disneymania 6 album.
A music video for Selena Gomez's version of the song aired on the Disney Channel on February 10, 2008. It featured Gomez modeling designs at the House of de Vil fashion house (a reference to the 1996 live-action film), intercut with clips from the movie. The video was included on the 101 Dalmatians Platinum Edition DVD.
