[edit] History

CyraCom International formed in 1995 under the name Kevmark. In that same year, the company patented the first dual-handset phone.[3] In 1998, Kevmark changed its name to CyraCom International.

Since its founding, CyraCom International has developed into one of the largest and most innovative language services companies in the United States. In 2004, CyraCom was listed on the InfoWorld 100 for innovative technology developments in multiple language voice recognition.[4] In a 2008 outsourcing survey by Modern healthcare, CyraCom was ranked No. 4 on the list of Top 20 Outsourcing Firms, 2007.[5] In that same year, CyraCom was ranked the 4th largest telephone interpreting company in the world.[6] In 2009, the American Hospital Association awarded exclusive endorsement to CyraCom for its translation and interpretation solutions.[7][8][9] Later in 2009, CyraCom and its sister company Voiance became the first over-the-phone interpretation companies in the U.S. to achieve ISO 9001:2008 certification,[10][11] and CyraCom was ranked the world's 2nd largest telephone interpretation company by Common Sense Advisory.[1] In 2009, CyraCom announced the acquisition of Language Learning Enterprises, Inc. (LLE).[12]

The name CyraCom is possibly a reference to the play Cyrano de Bergerac, in which communicating language effectively is a major theme; "Cyra" is a reference to the character Cyrano de Bergerac and "Com" is a reference to communication.
