Danish Air Transport, abbreviated DAT, is an airline based at Vamdrup, Denmark, operating scheduled and chartered passenger and cargo flights. Its main base is Vamdrup Kolding Airport, although there are no scheduled flights to or from this airport, with operational bases at Esbjerg Airport and Florø Airport.[1] The airline is owned by the Rungholm family (60%) and private investors (40%), and is in turn the whole owner of DOT LT, an airline from Lithuania.[1] Danish Air Transport also holds a 15 percent stake in the airline Vildanden from Norway.[citation needed]

[edit] History
Danish Air Transport was founded and started operations in 1989, initially as a cargo airline. Soon special operations like the transport of live horses or supplies for the Paris Dakar Rally in Africa were offered, too. Passenger charter flights were added in 1994, with the subsequent launch scheduled services on 18 November 1996. In December 2004, DAT flew several scheduled passenger flights between Copenhagen and the Faroe Islands. If the trial had turned out successful, it would have launched regular service between these two countries from Easter 2005. However, the ATR-42s turned out to be not suitable for the route. After initially having thought about adding larger aircraft types to its fleet, the airline instead decided against operating on that route.[2]

Danish Air Transport operates the following destinations (as per January 2012):[3]

- Esbjerg – Esbjerg Airport Base

Scheduled flights to several additional destinations using DAT aircraft are operated for Vildanden.
In addition, the following destinations are operated for DAT by DOT LT:
