Daniel Jason Torres (born 1990) is a New Paltz Central School District Board of Education member in New Paltz, New York. At the time of his election, he was the youngest elected official in New York State.[1] Torres is also a delegate to the 2012 Democratic National Convention.[2]
[edit] Board of education
On May 19, 2009 Torres was one of three candidates vying for three open seats,[3] and was elected with 820 votes.[4] He became the youngest elected official in the history of New Paltz, New York.[1]
[edit] 10 Under 20
Torres was selected as one of the “10 under 20” by the Times Herald-Record. This was largely due to his retrieval of funds from the sporting apparel featuring New Paltz High School's name and colors sold at Olympia Sports.[5] Since then over $200,000 has been donated to some two hundred school districts in the North East.[1]
