Below are the some of the players and rosters of the minor league affiliates of the New York Mets.

Eric Campbell[edit]

Eric Singleton Campbell (born April 9, 1987 in Norwich, Connecticut) is a baseball player in the New York Mets minor league system. He is currently with their Triple-A team, the Las Vegas 51s.

Prior to playing professionally, he attended Norwich Free Academy and then Boston College. As a freshman at Boston College, he hit .260. He improved his batting average to .350 with 20 doubles and 41 RBI in 52 games as a sophomore and as a junior, he hit .306 with 18 doubles, 43 runs and 41 RBI in 53 games. He was drafted by the Mets in the 8th round of the that year's amateur draft.

He began his professional career in low-A with the Brooklyn Cyclones that summer, hitting .260 and fielding .949 at third base, his main position. He split 2009 between the Savannah Sand Gnats, where he hit .248, and St. Lucie Mets, with whom he had 6 hits in 22 at-bats. In 2010, he played for the GCL Mets (going 3-for-11 at the plate), St. Lucie (with whom he hit .335 in 46 games) and the Binghamton Mets (with whom he hit .279 in 50 games). With Binghamton in 2011, he batted .247.

With Binghamton again in 2012, he hit .297, earning a spot on the Eastern League Mid-Season All-Star team.[1] He reached Triple-A for the first time in 2013, hitting .314 with 25 doubles, eight home runs and 66 RBI in 120 games for the Las Vegas 51s.

Jacob deGrom[edit]

Jacob Anthony deGrom (born June 19, 1988) is an American professional baseball player in the New York Mets minor league baseball system.

DeGrom attended Calvary Christian High School and Stetson University, where he played for the school's baseball team. He played as a shortstop during his freshman and sophomore seasons at Stetson, before transitioning into a relief pitcher and then a starting pitcher as a junior.[2]

The Mets selected deGrom in the ninth round of the 2010 MLB Draft. In 2013, he began the season with the Binghamton Mets of the Class AA Eastern League,[2] before receiving a promotion to the Las Vegas 51s of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League.[3] He was added to the Mets 40-man roster on November 20, 2013.[4]


Erik Goeddel[edit]

Erik Van Norman Goeddel is an American professional baseball player for the New York Mets organization.

Goeddel attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where he played college baseball for the UCLA Bruins. The New York Mets selected Goeddel in the 24th round of the 2010 MLB Draft.[5] The Mets added Goeddel to their 40-man roster after the 2013 season.[4]

Darin Walter Gorski (born October 6, 1987) is a pitcher in the New York Mets organization.

Gorski was drafted by the New York Mets in the 7th round of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania.[6]

Gorski was the Mets Sterling Organizational Pitcher of the Year in 2011.[7] He was added to the Mets 40-man roster on November 20, 2012.[8]


Dilson Herrera[edit]

Dilson Jose Herrera (born March 3, 1994) is a professional baseball player in the New York Mets organization.

Herrera signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates as an international free agent in 2010.[9] He received a $220,000 signing bonus.[10] Herrera, along with Gregory Polanco, represented the Pirates at the 2013 All-Star Futures Game.[11]

On August 27, 2013, the Pirates traded Herrera and a player to be named later, Vic Black, to acquire Marlon Byrd and John Buck.[12][13][14]


Steven Matz[edit]

Steven Jakob Matz (born) is a minor league baseball pitcher for the New York Mets organization.

Matz attended Ward Melville High School in East Setauket, New York. The Mets selected him in the second round, with the 72nd overall selection, of the 2009 MLB Draft.[15][16][17] He underwent Tommy John surgery in 2010.[18]

Matz was added to the Mets 40-man roster on November 20, 2013.[4]


Cory Mazzoni[edit]

Cory Mitchell Mazzoni (born October 19, 1989) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the New York Mets' farm system.

Mazzoni graduated from Seneca Valley High School in Harmony, Pennsylvania. After graduating, he enrolled at North Carolina State University, where he played college baseball for the NC State Wolfpack baseball team.[19]

The New York Mets selected Mazzoni in the second round of the 2011 MLB Draft.[20] Pitching for the Binghamton Mets of the Class AA Eastern League in 2013, Mazzoni had a 4.36 ERA and 74 strikeouts in 66 innings pitched.[21] The Mets invited Mazzoni to spring training in 2014.[22] On March 18, they assigned him to minor league camp.[23]

Zack Thornton[edit]

Zachary James Thornton (born May 19, 1988) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the New York Mets organization.

Thornton graduated from Oak Park High School in Oak Park, California. The San Francisco Giants selected Thornton in the 43rd round of the 2008 MLB Draft, but he opted not to sign.[24] Thornton enrolled at Ventura College. He transferred to the University of Oregon, to continue his college career with the Oregon Ducks. The Oakland Athletics selected Thornton in the 23rd round of the 2010 MLB Draft, and he signed. Thornton made his professional debut with the Vancouver Canadians of the Class A-Short Season Northwest League.[25]

In 2011, Thornton had a 5-4 win-loss record, a 2.39 earned run average, and 82 strikeouts for the Burlington Bees of the Class A Midwest League. At mid-season, he appeared in the Midwest League All-Star Game. He pitched for the Stockton Ports of the Class A-Advanced California League in 2012. The Athletics traded Thornton to the Pittsburgh Pirates after the 2012 season for Chris Resop.[26] In the 2013 season, Thornton recorded 90 strikeouts to 12 walks. He was considered a potential selection in the 2013 Rule 5 draft,[27][28] but he was not selected.

On April 18, 2014, the Pirates traded Thornton and a player to be named later for Ike Davis.[29]

Cory Vaughn[edit]

Cory Vaughn (born May 1, 1989) is an American professional baseball outfielder in the New York Mets organization.

Vaughn was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 43rd round of the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft out of Jesuit High School in Sacramento, California. He did not sign and attended San Diego State University. He was then drafted by the New York Mets in the fourth round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft.[30][31]

Vaughn is the son of former MLB player, Greg Vaughn.[32][33]


Jeff Walters[edit]

Jeffrey Walters (born November 6, 1987) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the New York Mets organization.

Walters was drafted by MLB teams five different times.[34] He signed after being drafted by the New York Mets in the seventh round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft out of the University of Georgia.[35]

Walters was the closer for the Binghamton Mets in 2013.[36] He led all minor league players in saves with 38. He was added to the Mets 40-man roster on November 20, 2013.[4]
