[edit] Fictional biography

Lo (Chinese: 羅小虎; pinyin: Luó Xiǎohǔ) (Chang Chen), who returns and asks Jen to leave with him, is a desert bandit called Dark Cloud who had raided Jen’s caravan and stolen her comb.[2] Jen chased after him to get it back; Lo defeated and kidnapped her; however, they eventually fell in love. Lo convinced Jen to return to her family, though not before telling her a legend of a man who jumped off a cliff but did not die. Instead, his wishes came true.

[edit] Reception

Adina Hoffman refers to Dark Cloud as a “sharply drawn supporting character…”[3] Another film critic notes the “intriguingly titled ‘Dark Cloud’…”[4]

[edit] Influence on other fictional characters

Prince of Persia producer Ben Mattes explained that their "goal was to create an accessible action hero….With Prince of Persia we tried to create more nuanced, layered characters….The character Dark Cloud from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon--again, he’s kind of rough and tumble, but he’s got a soft heart."[5]
