The dark side of the Moon can refer to:

  • the far side of the Moon that is permanently turned away from the Earth[citation needed] (even though it receives approximately the same amount of light as the near side of the moon), or
  • the lunar hemisphere that is not lit by the sun at any particular moment in time.
