David Chilton October 27, 1961 is a Canadian author, investor, and television personality from Sarnia, Ontario. Today he resides in Kitchener, Ontario where he runs his own financial planning business and publishing company. David graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a degree in Economics. In 1989 he self-published his book The Wealthy Barber. A look at personal finance, it went on to sell over three million copies. Chilton also publishes a line of successful low fat cook books titled Looneyspoons, Crazy Plates and Eat, Shrink and be Merry which all went on to be national best sellers and led to a television show and a line of frozen dinners.
On March 20, 2012, CBC Television announced that Chilton would become the newest "Dragon" venture capitalist on the network's hit series Dragons' Den. He replaced Robert Herjavec starting in season 7, which began airing in September 2012. During an introduction to his presence on the show, he is said to be currently living outside Waterloo.
