Overview [edit]
In 1999, whilst still at high school, David won The Casa Nostra short-story competition and was consequently approached to pen a screen adaptation of Frederick Ayer's turn-of-the-century novel Reminiscences. Upon the completion of his schooling, Mahmoudieh began development on an original comic book series and his first feature-length screenplay, Fools Gold.
From the year 2000 onwards, David began working as a Trainee 3rd and later 1st AD (Assistant Director) on a number of TV shows and films, including The Outer Limits, Wolf Lake [2] and X-Files.
In March 2008 David's short-script Rain won the award of "Best Short Script 2008" at the ECU European Film Festival in Paris.[3] The script also went on to finish 2nd in the 2009 Hollywood Movie Deal Screenplay Contest (Shorts Category),[4] 2nd again in the "Best Short Sci-Fi/Fantasy Screenplay" category at IFFF Film Festival at Raleigh Studios, Los Angeles,[5] and finally Runner-Up in two categories "(Best Dramatic & Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy Script)" at the AOF Film Festival Writer's Awards Ceremony in Pasadena.
It was announced in 2011 that "Rain" was in development for adaptation into a feature-film, with David attached as writer/director.
