David R. Hawkins, M.D. (born June 3, 1927) is an American psychiatrist, mystic, author and spiritual teacher in Sedona, Arizona.

Hawkins grew up in Wisconsin, and felt his first important breakthrough came through a near-death experience he had as a child in 1939 while trapped in a winter storm. He served in WWII, where he was assigned to hazardous duty on a minesweeper.[1] Hawkins received a B.S. in pre-med from Marquette University (1950)[2], an M.D. from the Medical College of Wisconsin (1953), and a Ph.D. from Columbia Pacific University (1995).[3]

Hawkins teaches that applied kinesiology can distinguish truth or falsity in any statement.[3]
