Dean Hocknell is a fictional football (soccer) player who appeared on the British drama Dream Team, about the equally fictitious Harchester United. He is played by Darren Morfit.

Backstory[edit]

Dean was captain of the Harchester youth team, and got his chance in the first team at the start of series 1. He scores on his debut and everyone at the club rates him highly. He is a committed and determined player, with a big will to succeed. His father was also a player but had a weak character and Dean tries to avoid this

Sextape and decline[edit]

His career went into decline when he was filmed on CCTV having sex with Georgina Jacobs, the chairmans daughter. The tape was published in all the national newspapers and he lost the respect of his team mates and was dumped by his girlfriend. The chairman was furious and loaned him out to another club.

Marriage[edit]

It was there where he met his future wife Natalie Moore, and they soon got engaged. Georgina, however, was still in love with Dean and tried to split them up. Sean (Dean's brother) had become fond of Natalie and on the eve of her and Dean's wedding he confessed to Natalie that he loved her. Dean and Natalie got married anyway with everyone's blessing.

Domestic violence[edit]

In 1998, Dean was sent on loan to Galatasaray and things were going badly for him Natalie. Natalie returned to Harchester to visit Sean, but she was covered in bruises, Dean had become so depressed at his life in Turkey that he had been violent towards her. Dean came back to Harchester for a short while to take his wife back home to Turkey. Things however didn't improve for the couple as Dean continued to beat her up. Natalie left Dean and went back to Harchester to be with Sean, but she was pregnant with Dean's baby.
