Denisse Aurora Castro[1] (born January 20, 1988),[1] better known by her stage name Denisse Lara, is an American singer-songwriter, who won first place and Star of the Year on Quiero ser estrella (Spanish Star Search).Denisse was discovered by famed music executive David Foster

Castro, the daughter of Alberto Castro and Lupita Lara was born in Pomona, California.[1] She is the second of three children of her siblings, Berenice and Ulysses. At the age of seven, Denisse's parents encouraged her to participate in various singing competitions and television programs including, Sábado Gigante and Facilisimo. In 1999, she was awarded first place and Star of the Year on Quiero ser estrella (Spanish Star Search). She performed "One" on the soundtrack for Pokémon: The Movie 2000. She also voices Melody in the Spanish version of The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea. Denisse is managed by veteran entertainment manager Jason Fowler ( R.Kelly, DMX, Donnie Wahlberg, Jordan Knight ) of J Mike Management & Entertainment.

On July 31, 2011, Lara performed the U.S. national anthem "The Star-Spangled Banner" at U.S. Cellular Field for a game between the Chicago White Sox and the Boston Red Sox.[2]
