Dennis Blome was an actual sheriff at the time he played the role of a sheriff that gets handcuffed to his car in the 1988 film Miles from Home. At that time, he was the sheriff of Linn County, Iowa.[1] He held that position for many years until 1994 when he stepped down to become a U.S. Marshal.
