The Department of Plant & Microbial Biology is an academic department in the College of Natural Resources at the University of California, Berkeley. The department conducts research and teaching in Plant and Microbial science.
The department's strengths are in the areas of plant genetics, plant pathology, plant development, and plant biochemistry. The department grants graduate and undergraduate degrees in microbiology. Many microbiology faculty in the department research plant-microbe interactions, though microbiology graduate students may work with microbiology faculty from other UC Berkeley departments.
