DeWalt is an area within Missouri City, Texas, United States.

Prior to annexation it was an unincorporated area within Fort Bend County.

Historic Dew House is near DeWalt.

The settlement DeWalt was on State Highway 6 about one mile southeast of Farm-to-Market Road 1092, 14 miles (22 kilometers) east of Richmond in eastern Fort Bend County.

There was a sugar plantation in the area in the 1850s owned by Thomas Waters DeWalt. After the American Civil War, which ended in 1865, the plantation was subdivided and populated by an African-American community. The Sugar Land Railroad passed through the town starting in 1912 until 1950. By 1914, 100 people lived in DeWalt.

Missouri City, Texas encompassed the previously unincorporated area by 1990.

The DeWalt Heritage Society[1] has been formed as part of the Fort Bend County Museum Association[2].
