Dhobi Ghat (Hindi: धोबी घाट) is an upcoming Hindi film produced and directed by Kiran Rao in her directorial debut. The film will release in theatres in early 2011. The film stars Aamir Khan and Prateek Babbar.[1][2] Aamir Khan is said to have a lead role in the movie as a painter.[3] A.R. Rahman was asked to write the musical score, but due to his tight schedule, commitments to Hollywood producers, and a world tour, he declined the film. Another two-time Oscar-winning Argentine composer, Gustavo Santaolalla, was signed it to compose the score and soundtrack of the film.

Dhobi Ghaat had world premiere in September 2010 at the Toronto International Film Festival.[4]

Production

The film was shot in Mumbai using "guerilla" techniques.[5] Due to the 2008 Mumbai attacks, shooting was delayed when, citing safety concerns, the government denied Rao permission to shoot scenes at a railway station.[2]
