Douglas & McIntyre is an imprint of D&M Publishers which also controls the imprint Greystone Books. Douglas & McIntyre was founded in 1971 as an independent publishing company based in Vancouver. They became Canada's largest independent publisher but filed for bankruptcy in October 2012.[1] They are the publishers for such noted authors as Margaret Atwood and Douglas Coupland, poet Lorna Crozier, actress Kim Cattrall, chef John Bishop, politician Mike Harcourt and the late journalist Marjorie Nichols. Their full titles list stands at over 2000, with 1000 active titles.[2][3][4]
Parent company D&M Publishers bought New Society Publishers in 2008; New Society Publishers had its roots in the Movement for a New Society.
