Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional High School
Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional High School (often referred to as The Regional) is a secondary school located in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada. It is attended by approximately 850 students in grades 9 to 12. The school falls under the jurisdiction of the Strait Regional School Board. Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional High School was ranked fourth among Nova Scotian schools in 2009.

The school was formerly known as Antigonish Regional High School, but the name was changed in the early 1980s to honor a principal forced into retirement due to illness.

The school's sports teams are called the Royals and their colours are the following: mainly white with blue and red winter plumage. In March 2011, the school's Hockey team took home a provincial NSSAF title with a 3-2 win over Sir John A. Macdonald High School.
[edit] International Baccalaureate Programme
The school began teaching the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program in September 2007. It has been an IB World School since April 2007 (IB World School Code 002932). Currently, it offers Biology SL, Biology HL Chemistry HL, Chemistry SL, English A1 HL, French B HL, French B SL, History HL, Mathematics SL, Physics HL, Physics SL, Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Visual Arts SL and Visual Arts HL.

The regional also has a Drama Club run by students and supervised by very helpful teacher volunteers. In December 2010, the club put on a production of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", in spring 2009, "Robin Hood", and in Spring 2008, "Peter Pan". The plays and usually lighthearted and fun in nature, take place on the school's Audio/Visual room's stage, and are generally attended by parents, students, and members of the community.
