Dublin Bus Route 41 is a bus route in Dublin, Ireland, that runs from Lower Abbey Street, in Dublin city centre, to Swords Manor in the town of Swords. It is operated by Dublin Bus and is the main bus route serving the residential areas in the western side of Swords. It includes two core routes, 41 and 41c, which each operate every 20 minutes between each other, giving a frequency of every 10 minutes along most of the route between Swords Manor and Dublin City Centre. Routes 41a and 41b are infrequent variations. Route 41x is a peaktime Xpresso service to UCD Belfield and route 41n is a weekend Nitelink service.

Route[edit]

41 & 41c[edit]

Route 41 operates every 20 minutes from Lower Abbey Street in Dublin City Centre to Swords Manor, Brackenstown Road in the town of Swords. It runs along the Swords Quality Bus Corridor, via Gardiner Street, Dorset Street, Drumcondra Road Lower, Drumcondra Road Upper, Swords Road, Dublin Airport, Dublin Road, Pinnockhill Roundabout, Swords By-pass, Malahide Road, Swords Main Street, Bridge Street, Rathbeale Road and Murrough Road, utillising the R132 road for a large portion of its journey.[1]

Route 41c operates every 20 minutes between Lower Abbey Street and Swords Manor. It follows the same route as route 41 as far as Dublin Road, then operates via Boroimhe, River Valley, Forrest Road, Swords Main Street, North Street, Balheary Road, Glen Ellan Road and Murrough Road.[2]

Routes 41 and 41c are timed to operate between each other, giving a 10 minute frequency along most of the route.

41a[edit]

Route 41a is a proposed hourly local service running between Swords Manor, Applewood, River Valley and Dublin Airport. It has been proposed as part of Network Direct, and is to come into service before the end of 2012. Following commencement, all route 41 services will no longer operate via Dublin Airport to allow faster services to the city centre.[3]

The number 41a is currently used on one peak service which operates from Swords Manor, via Applewood, then direct to city centre.

41b[edit]

Route 41b is an infrequent service between Lower Abbey Street and Rolestown. It follows the same route as route 41 as far as the Rathbeale Road, then continues out to Rolestown. It does not serve Dublin Airport.[4]

Xpresso 41x[edit]

Xpresso Route 41x is a peak time service from Swords Manor to Dublin city centre and UCD Belfield. During the morning peak, services depart from Swords Manor and operate via Brackenstown Road, Murrough Road (or Glen Ellan Road, Balheary Road, North Street), Seatown Road, Swords By-pass, River Valley, Boroimhe, Holywell, M1 motorway, Dublin Port Tunnel, D'Olier Street, Trinity College, Nassau Street, Kildare Street, St. Stephens Green, Leeson Street, Morehampton Road, Donnybrook Road and Stillorgan Road to UCD Belfield. During the evening peak, services depart from UCD Belfield and operate via Stillorgan Road, Donnybrook Road, Morehampton Road, Leeson Street, St. Stephens Green, Dawson Street, Suffolk Street, Eden Quay, Gardiner Street, Drumcondra Road, M1 motorway, Holywell, Boroimhe, River Valley, Forrest Road, Swords Main Street, Rathbeale Road, Murrough Road and Brackenstown Road.[5]

Nitelink 41n[edit]

Nitelink route 41n is a weekend nighttime service between Westmoreland Street in Dublin city centre and Swords Manor. It follows the same route as the 41 and has departures every 30 minutes late on Friday and Saturday nights. It only operates it one direction and there are no services from Swords Manor into Dublin city centre.[6]

Fares[edit]

To determine fare prices routes are divided into different fare stages. Routes 41 & 41c are divided into 24 different stages while route 41b is longer and is divided into 34 different stages. The fare charged depends on how many stages travelled. Cash fares must be paid in coins in the exact amount.[7] Passengers can avail of cheaper fares by using a prepaid "Leapcard", which can be purchased and topped up at Payzone outlets.[8]

Xpresso route 41x and Nitelink route 41n have special flat fares.
