Durant High School was opened in 1995 on Cougar Path in Plant City, Florida by its first Principal, Mr. Ron Frost. It was named for the community in which it is located. Principals have included Joe Perez (1999–2004) and Pamela Bowden (2004–present).
The school mascot is the Cougar and its school newspaper is The PawPrint, which is part of the High School National Ad Network.

[edit] Durant High School Cougar Pride Marching Band
Durant High school's marching band is one of the top bands in Hillsborough county, as well as the state of Florida. They compete yearly at the Florida Marching Band State competition and rank top five year to year. As of 2009-10, they rank 10th in the state of Florida in Class 3A.
