The EFFIE Awards are advertising awards given yearly by the New York American Marketing Association. EFFIE appears to be an acronym since it is usually written in capital letters, but it is a pseudo-acronym, since the letters don't stand for individual words. They are from the word effectiveness, a desirable trait in an advertisement.
